Week 11 Recap

Bama Falls to the 'New Kid', Texas A&M.

I had upset on my mind this weekend, but it was with the wrong team. I felt TCU had the best shot at upsetting Kansas State. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Alabama falls to #4 in the BCS, and now the SEC needs help to get back to the BCS Title Game. Yes, you read that right. The SEC needs help. I have been saying it all season long. The SEC doesn't look as good as the SEC has been the last few years. How would we measure that without the SEC playing a solid enough non-conference schedule? We look back at Alabama's wins this season, and it was out there in the open. The only people who couldn't see it were Alabama fans, and SEC fans. The Crimson Tide played two games this season that were worth talking about through week 11. They stuggled against a mediocre LSU team, and they lost to a BIG 12 school. I don't care what conference A&M says they are in, they are less than one year removed from the BIG 12.

Attention SEC fans.... One of your teams was just beat by a middle of the road BIG 12 school. The 'New Kid on the Block' just walked into your best team's stadium and dominated the game. Texas A&M was supposed to struggle against the SEC speed, right? The Aggies are asking "How you like me now?"

Depending on what part of the country you are in, you will hear several different spins on what kind of loss this was for Bama and the SEC. This is a 'black eye' for the SEC. There is no other way to describe it. Sure, I am ready for it....go ahead and throw the most over used argument by SEC fans. "The SEC beats up on eachother because we are the best conference out there." HELLO?!!?! Texas A&M was supposed to learn why it's so tough in the SEC.  Now, they are taking the best team the SEC has to offer down, in their own backyard.

So, just how good is the SEC this season? I am not talking the last six years. I want to hear from Bama fans, LSU fans, Gator fans, Georgia fans, etc..... I want to know what you think of the SEC this year? Are they as good as they have been in the last six years? Or, are they just a solid conference this year with no powerhouse team? Explain why or why not. Seriously, let me know what you think of this loss for Bama. (jeremy.cf2day@yahoo.com)

At this point of the season, I'd say they SEC has a great mixture of every conference out there, but they just don't have the ONE powerhouse team to bring in a seventh straight title. They have Kentucky, who would fit in okay with any FCS conference. There is Tennessee.....they would fit perfectly in the MAC, or maybe the Big East. Georgi seems to be a representation of the B1G Ten. The same can be said for South Carolina. LSU looks like a team from the Big 12. Texas A&M IS a Big 12 team. I could keep going down the list, but I think you get the point. The SEC had its run, and it was a GREAT RUN. I don't want to take anything away from what they have done the last six years. It was nothing short of amazing. However, it appears as though the run is coming to an end. That's not to say that they won't have another run like this in years to come, but their time is up this season.

I have to mention Missouri in this discussion. They got the road win against Tennessee in not one, not two, not three, but FOUR OVERTIMES. The fact that A&M and Missouri are having success in the SEC goes to show that other conferences CAN compete with 'SEC speed'. The 'new kids' aren't doing any worse in the SEC than they would back in the BIG 12. In fact, A&M might be having more success in the SEC.

I guess Alabama gets a chance to redeem themselves this weekend against a tough non-conference team....... They play host to daunting Western Carolina University. It's week 12? That looks like a game that should be played in week 2 or 3 of the season. Are you sure it's week 12? Great job SEC. This game will prove how great the SEC is against non-conference foes.

It was an exciting weekend in college football. A game like that always brings great debates and arguments the following week. Send me your questions/comments/reactions to jeremy.cf2d@yahoo.com  Check us out on Facebook and give us a 'LIKE'. www.facebook.com/collegefootball2day
