Week 11 Key Games and Picks

Week 11 Key Games and Picks

First, how about that game Thursday night between FSU and Virginia Tech? FSU finally got a win on a Thursday night. If you are a Noles fan, you know exactly what I am talking about. The Hokies may be having a down year but they were 11-3 in home games on Thursday nights. But should this game have been as close as it was? Isn't FSU a top ten program? Their offense certainly didn't look like it. Credit the Noles' defense and EJ Manuel for the win. Manuel may have been sacked a lot during the game, but he made clutch plays when Jimbo turned him loose in the passing game. Still, even with the win.......questions and concerns are starting to grow in Tallahassee. Was play-calling an issue? Are Florida State's players focused like they should be? And if they aren't, doesn't that fall on coaching as well? FSU had better finish the season strong, and win the ACC if Jimbo Fisher wants the questions to stop. Seminole fans aren't blind to the issues that keep showing up each week. Fumbles (9+ in the last 3 weeks), Penalties, Questionable play calls, and lack of focus pretty much sum up the Noles right now, and some how they are 9-1 on the season.

Perhaps the biggest game this Saturday, Texas A&M travels to Alabama. The Aggies are much improved from earlier this season. If Bama overlooks them, it will be a battle to the end. The Crimson Tide better be focused because they are going to get the Aggies' best shot. Nick Saban has a great reputation at keeping his guys focused, and that will be tested again this week. Certainly, Alabama is the better team, but upsets happen.....and that's all Texas A&M has on their minds this weekend. However, I don't think they can play a complete game against Bama's defense. It may be close for a while, but in the end, Bama wins.....34-17.

Nebraska hosts Penn State. The Cornhuskers are in control of their own destiny. With a win this Saturday, they can inch a little closer to the B1G TEN Title game. Penn State has found a way to win this season. It looked like it would be a very long season after their terrible loss in week one. The Nittany Lions will be pushed to their limit this game, and I think Nebraska will be too much for the storied Nittany Lions to handle. I like Nebraska at home, 30-17.

Kansas State vs TCU. This game is bigger than what some people are making it out to be. Klein is the 'X Factor'. Will he play? Indications would say yes.....but we may not know until game time. If Klein doesn't play, look out, Kansas State will have their hands full. Even with Klein, it's a dangerous game for the Wild Cats. If he does play, how good will he be coming off the head injury? Will he be as sharp? Will they run him as much? This has upset written all over it. I'm going to take a little risk this weekend and pick TCU. I like the momentum they have, and Kansas State may not look like themselves. TCU wins 34-31.

Mississippi State vs LSU. Well, where does LSU go after their tough loss to Alabama? Do they respond the way a good team should? Or, have they packed it up and given up on the rest of the season? I think, even with the loss to Bama, that the Tigers may have gained more confidence in recent weeks. They are still a very dangerous team to play against. LSU should roll in this game, no contest. Tigers unleash their frustrations on the Bull Dogs. LSU 31 Mississippi State 10.
