BCS Picture Still Cloudy
With week 7 in the books, the first BCS poll has been released. There weren't too many surprises this week. It was more like disappointment this week than anything else. South Carolina choked at LSU. Tennessee proved that they are still a long way from being relevant in SEC. West Virgnia took a beating. Notre Dame might be a legit BCS Championship team.
Forget everything you have seen in the first half of the season. It is now officially the second half of the season and that's the part that counts the most. Teams will be fighting harder for position in conference standings. More importantly, teams will be making their final push for the BCS Bowl Games.
So, how did I fair with my picks for the weekend? 5-2 for the weekend. A solid week but two teams let me down. Tennessee is just a lost cause right now. South Carolina had their chances and just couldn't stop the Tiger's run game. Everybody else took care of business as usual.
BCS POLL
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Oregon
4. Kansas State
5. Notre Dame
6. LSU
7. South Carolina
8. Oregon State
9. Oklahoma
10. USC
These are the current standings in week one of the BCS poll. This is one of my favorite times of the season because I like to make my predictions of the teams I think will end the season in the top 10 in the BCS and compare the two at the end of the year. So, here are my predictions for the teams I think will be in the top 10 in the BCS when it is all said and done. (No particular order; just the teams that will be in the top 10)
Alabama
South Carolina
Oregon
Oklahoma
West Virginia
Florida State
Notre Dame
Florida
Georgia
Kansas State
There are a couple of teams in there that I could get some feedback for.
Georgia is a team I am on the fence post about, but they could end the season with one loss as well. There is no way that a one loss SEC school would be left out of the top 10 at the end of the season.
Florida State is another team that will have to work hard to finish in the top 10. As long as they finish strong and win the ACC, they will finish somewhere in the top 10.
Notre Dame refuses to go away. They keep winning the close games, and that's what a BCS type team does. When you are winning the close games, you know your team has character. They just won't back down from anything. It may not be pretty, but they are getting the job done every week.
There will be plenty games over the next two or three weeks that will shake up the rankings.
